Bio
Richard is the Managing Director of AGS Hong Kong. He is also the Asia head of Appleby’s Private Client & Trust and Regulatory practices.
Richard is qualified as a lawyer in England & Wales, the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. He graduated from the University of Bristol. He has lived and worked in Jersey, the United Kingdom, the Cayman Islands and, since 2009, Hong Kong. He has deep insight into the trust and corporate services sector both from setting up structures and from a regulatory and compliance perspective. He has considerable knowledge of multi-jurisdictional structuring issues covering companies, funds, employee benefits, private clients and family offices. He has 25 years of post-qualification experience with over 20 years in law firms with affiliated trust and corporate services businesses.
Richard is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). He is a member of the STEP Governance Committee and the Steering Committee for the Cross Border Estates Special Interest Group. He is a former chair of the Hong Kong Branch of STEP. Richard is a lecturer for the Hong Kong Securities Institute’s Certified Trust Practitioner course.
